For the guys that have taken the time to register on the forums, and come read these posts.

Zool has downloaded the server files to his home computer and is inserting the scripts that we have asked for, in an effort to make sure they in fact work seemlessly.  Once they have all been sorted the files will be uploaded and then go live for your enjoyment.  Please dont ask everyday about the latest, I will post as soon as it happens.

I am told that the Sarge AI has already been uploaded.  So new Ai behaviour may be noticed.  Eventually the Ai will become harder to fight, and they will be more acurate in killing you.  Be careful.

Scripts we are looking at including in the Server.

Ai missions.
Towing.

Some additional Admin tools may also go live, to track players and assets, and open locked vehicles that  fools some how manage to lock and loose keys.

Is there some advantage in having (if possible) some kind of leader board with stats ?

I would like to suggest you only allow the towing of unlocked vehicles to prevent the selling of other player's vehicles.

Good idea samp.  Another job for Zool, he loves all this work.  Hand I beleive that locked vehicles cannot be towed, Zool is running scripts on the test server to see how they go before we go live.

Just a thought Samp, and zool, the US server we lost a bunch of guys to, do a shoot out once a month, admins against the rest of the server, if your up for something like that.

I would need to discuss with Zoolz at some point how the data gets out of the server to the back of the website.

Zool's.  Hows the testing going.  Im interested in particular, in the admin tracking program.  Does it work, is it any good.  Will it tell us who has griefed bases and vehicles ,(objects) in the game.

Someone has landed in our base, by chopper I would say, (only way  in) and destroyed every vehicle in the entire base, not just mine and scrotee's.  Sometime during Saturday evening, after I logged.  Would it track this type of action and tell us the offender details.  If so any ETA on it going live.

Plus any other snippets of info, that I can leak to the players about all the other forthcoming upgrades would be good.

just a quick update on my previous post.  Well it took about 3 hours of painstaking work going backwards and forwards through the data base and other resources, But I beleive I found the offender.  They made a mistake that I was able to exploit, and when I checked, they logged of inside my base, and their log in time was just prior to all the damage.  I have taken steps to put them in a new naughty corner, as the old one has de-spawned and no longer exists.  Have not yet banned the offender as he is not a regular on our server any longer, and I dont have his GUID.

Well time to spam the forums again.  Just to add further fuel to the fire that was generated in the UGN TS meeting, I have some additional thoughts.  These are ideas only and need to be read and expanded on by the players, as changes should benefit all NRU members playing in the server.

Firstly I would like to see a committee set up, about 4 members should be sufficient.  They should be NRU members and senior members of the epoch server, or have been playing for a while and are active.  I see them acting as a buffer between the general server population and the admins, to discuss ideas and suggestions coming up the line and make relevant suggestions changes to the admins, who will have final say before implementing/or not.  If I could nominate one person now, it would be R.I.P, I have spoken to him and he would be happy to accept a position.  Further nominations needed.  Your thoughts?

If the committee gets off the ground, some matters for their consideration, Changes to the Humanity scoring to take away lost points for killing Hero Ai, giving more targets.  This impcts those that do missions as mission runners turn orange or hostile to Hero Ai, and are attacked, and should be able to defend themselves without loss of humanity.

Discuss a suitable system to implement whether or not armoured vehicles should be sold to suitable members of the server, the costs involved, Humanity required, rules governing their use etc.  Any other perks benefits for NRU members not available to public players in the server.

Discuss the benefits of having some fun PVP matches, server versus admins, or any other forms of playing styles/matches etc that may have entertainment value

Encourage NRU members to regulalry check the forums.

Your thoughts are welcome in regard to all the above

New Years Day.

Guys, Maine and Zool have updated the server to 1.0.3, so if you have not done so, download and install the new patch. 

No everything did not go as well as expected and we still have some issues to resolve.  Self blood bafing has failed.  It appears some changes have been made to ingame mapping, and radar, enemy vehicles, AI good bad and the ugly do not show up.

We are (royal we) working on fixing the problems.  There may be some other issues we have not found yet, so if you find them post them so we can have look at fixing them as well.

In line with the thread title, some news on possible upgrades.  A meeting was held yesterday on TS with most of the epoch players, and ideas were thrown around on possible game improvements.  Meeting chaired by R.I.P, and thanks to him.

We discussed what perks NRU members might be given over public players in the server, as well as the problems with being shot at by Ai hero's at the moment with the mission system, which is now impacted more people as the in game map system is not working.  This lead to a discussion on armoured vehicles, who should get them, how and why.

A pricing system was discussed, and it was proposed that a high gold price together with humanity score and number of bandit kills be a criteria for having an armoured vehicle.  It was further suggested that for the players that only loot and mission and dont chase bandits could be given access to a LAV or BTR HQ version which has armour but no Cannon, to help protect themselves from chopper attacks.  The pricing mechansim for these vehicles was not finalised but still under discussion.  These ideas maybe could go to a closed Committee meeting to iron out the final mix.

I dont suggest we impliment any of these changes straight away, but to finalise a draft of changes that we can review and be certain of rather than continually adding one change after the other in an adhoc fashion.

Perhaps one change could be made sooner rather than later, and that would be to remove the points system from killing hero's, so that no one is penalised for defending themselves against theit attacks.  ALso whether the murder system can be deleted for killing said Hero's.

Keep the ideas rolling in guys,  still need some criteria for rewarding donating players etc.

As part of the above meeting I put forward the idea of getting the NRU logo on any vehicle a NRU member is currently in. I have seen it on other servers and i think it would be a nice little perk for members.

Maine was in channel at the end and said it was fairly easy to implement if it was agreed on.

Hey Guys I managed to get the new AI system working on my home server.  Fucking hard ass AI. I recommend turning off sarge AI you wont need it. Plus ALL AI are bandits :) I got 7 or 8 parachute chopper missions but need to create more crash mission n such.

Hey Guys

OK so I've updated the server with the new AI. All seems to be working well SO FAR..... I did have some issues which i have seemed to have ironed out. :confused2:

SO how this new AI works....

Helli Parra Drops... I have set a few random "Trigger" points around the "BATTLE ZONE" What these do is, if anyone passes within 400 meters it will trigger a helli to spawn 3km away. These hellis will then travel to the triggered zone and parra drop 4-5 bandits.

Missions......
Armed vehicle
Crash spawner
Disabled civ chopper
Disabled mil chopper
MV22
Weapon_cache
&
Convoy..... This one gets interesting. AS i have set these to the same as the Parra drops, meaning when this mission comes on & players respond, while shooting the AI from original mission they also trigger the Parra drops. So an extra 4-5 bandits to kill.

ALL AI are bandits :love7:
Kills count into your bandits killed :love7:
Kills will give you 200 humanity :love7:
&
If a player comes within 100 meters of the mission ALL there vehicles get written into database... Meaning unlike old AI you can now fix, use or sell the AI vehicles

Over the next few days i will play around with more setting.
If the new AI seem too easy I can enable a setting thats makes them stupid HARD & if they are still too east i can re-enable SARG AI???

Just sit n see how thing go.

Thanks Zool, I have read this to all the guys in TS and will continue to update newer guys as we go.

Can we get the towing system in as soon as possible to allow lone players to to the mission vehicles to the relevant trader to sell.  I have noticed on some servers they have removed the camo net off the hero trader to stop vehicles glitching in it and blowing up.

ZOOL, Main, Bung, and Friends,

Thank you for your work to constantly improve this game.

I just logged on, went to sell my tanker, a UAZ flicked it's lights at me, I politely honked, and then they blew me up and sent me to Elektro.  Couldn't get my keys before server restart.

Oh NOES DayZ suffering!!

Hey, this new AI is NextGen for sure!

I was tempted to add a discussion about AI onto this post (server upgrades), but to do so may be considered  :sign7:

Just an update guys.  The DayZ Ai have been on the server now for about a week or more.  They can be seen on the ingame map, by virtue of coloured circles and cross hairs etc.  Dont forget there are also the Wicked Ai still on the server, they are mainly in the war zone area, (Lopatino), but on other parts of the map as well.  These you do not see on your map.  Some folk have termed them "Ninja" Ai.  For the few interested members that stay in touch via the forums, feel free to offer pro's and con's on server upgrades and suggested changes.  However in saying this I stick to one of my very firm rules, do not criticise for the sake of criticising, offer a plausible solution.

Now on to something that I am thinking of putting forward, and that is to have 2 channels in Teamspeak, one for the younger folk on the server and an adults ony channel.  I have nothing against the younger folk, however at my age im finding it difficult to often uderstand them, and no longer have the patience to put up with their non stop, useless and incoherrant chatter.

What do you think.

As far as the AI are concerned, I am happy with them. If not, I want more.

And as for the TS Channel dilemma, I completely agree with you Bung. However there should be nothing to stop the younger gamer's (like myself) from accessing the older  (more mature) gamer's channel if need be. I'm sure this system would work well because I understand that us younger people babble on and speak nonsense (speaking for myself) and creating separate channels would end confusion and frustration.

we shall see what the replies bring,  Thanks Busby for replying, i will be guaging the response from the members, to see who actually checks the forums, and keeps up to date with what is happening.  But as for your reply on the channel access, if you younger guys come to channel announce yourself and excuse yourself and ask a proper question then leave, I see no problems with that.
